OEB Breakfast Co. is where breakfast gets elevated. Founded in Calgary in 2009 by chef Mauro Martina, it was built on the belief that the first meal of the day should be anything but ordinary. OEB blends creativity and comfort, using local farm-fresh ingredients, bold flavours, and playful twists on the classics, making it a must-visit on any Calgary breakfast and brunch list.
We’ve been to OEB more times than we can count, and every visit feels like a treat. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, bursting with flavour, and presented with care—delicious, inventive, and comforting all at once. The atmosphere is just as delightful as the food: bright, welcoming, and bustling with energy, yet still warm and friendly. The staff have always been attentive and professional, making every visit feel effortless and enjoyable.
It’s the kind of place that celebrates connection, comfort, and the simple joy of starting your day with something special.
With four locations across the city (we’ve been to all four and they are all equally fantastic), OEB has become a must-visit for anyone looking for exceptional breakfast or brunch experiences. I’m thrilled to see that they’ve expanded across Canada and even have locations in the States.

Menu Highlights at OEB Breakfast Co.
The coffee at OEB Breakfast Co. is simply outstanding; they feature a custom breakfast blend roasted exclusively for OEB by a Canadian artisan roaster in Vancouver, a true testament to the thoughtfulness and quality that goes into every cup. The lattés are velvety and indulgent, and I’m especially fond of the Green Machine Smoothie, which feels as refreshing as it is nourishing. The cocktail list is always evolving, seasonal, clever, and thoughtfully crafted, adding a playful and sophisticated touch that makes brunch feel truly special.
Around our table, everyone has their favourites. The classic breakfasts are flawless, the Breakfast Sammy is a perfectly elevated breakfast sandwich, and I often find myself drawn to the Avocado Toast, the Shakshuka, or the Chia Seed Pudding. The Bennies are reliably delicious, our daughter is steadily working her way through the impressive array of breakfast poutines, and my brother-in-law is still raving about the Gnocchi Breakfast Carbonara he enjoyed on a recent visit.
Dietary Options at OEB Breakfast Co.
As someone with food intolerances ( including eggs!) I’ve always appreciated how accommodating OEB Breakfast Co. is. They never restrict substitutions (you may have to pay a little extra for some), ensuring every guest can enjoy a breakfast or brunch that suits their needs. Their menu clearly identifies items that are gluten-free, contain nuts, feature free-range pork, include truffles, highlight hand-crafted salmon laks, are vegetarian, or vegan, making it easy to find something for every preference. Even with substitutions, the food is consistently delicious, and favourites like their gluten-friendly pesto potatoes are, in my opinion, even better than the regular ones, making them a must-try for anyone seeking a fresh twist on a classic breakfast favourite.

Why OEB Breakfast Co. is a Local Favourite
I love that OEB Breakfast Co. sources its products locally and from some of the best suppliers across Canada, putting care and quality into every dish. I love that they host unique and fun events, like when the Toronto locations created special breakfast menus for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. I love that they give back to the community, offering a discount to Alberta teachers during a recent strike. It’s these thoughtful choices, supporting local producers, celebrating community, and making every guest feel valued, that truly makes OEB a beloved Calgary favourite.
